not to turn this into a question of manliness...as I know your every bit as capable as myself. Perhaps more so, who knows.. But infection is the least of my worries, should shithit the fan...in the area im in (geographically) I've spent the better part of lets say 25 years in the woods, drank unpurified creekwater, the whole gambit of things most folks would scoff at...so just my own personal opinion, but im not about to carry around a bag of stuff that I personally would find useless...but again, that's just me. I would not advise others to follow my lead.

And while on the subject of leading...lets say you have a bag full of medical equipment, but only know the uses for half the stuff in it...that's fine, and I'm sure it will let you rest a bit easier with that assurance...but should something out of your realm of knowledge happen...those who are with you are likely to look to you as their savoir, because you have the magic bag of goodies...how disappointed will they be when you don't know what your doing?..i say only have what you know, yourself and your group will that much more capable and confident because of that...and perhaps safer as well..

I went through the Army's Combat Life Saver Course more times than I can count. So I know how to use 90% of that stuff in the bag, IV's (I'd be nervous but still be able to use expanders such as HEXTEND), tourniquets, HALO seals, all the goodies to treat tension pneumothorax (sp) and those crazy bandages that have clam shells on them that act like quick-clot. Infection sucks balls, in a post-apocolyptic setting a simple scratch can turn into a horrible infection causing fever and limb loss. I'd raid the local pharmacy for all the painkillers, antibiotics cough and cold medicine iodine/anti-septics and painkillers that I could carry... come to think of it I would pretty much empty a CVS in the back of my truck/several-trucks.

You should probably stop drinking creek water, you're gonna get giardia or cryptosporidium
