you need specialized training to use most of this stuff. Frankly, I don't want some person with a kit and " goodwill " putting a tourniquet on me with no idea on how to use it and no access to advanced medical help insight ever. I'll opt to just bleed out lol which might be a better option than the gangrene that would set in when the tourniquet stays on to long cutting off the blood to a limb.

Yep which is why I don't carry a trauma bag I trust my skills and ability to triage more then I do a bag of crap

I wouldn't have any of this if I was not proficient in the use and application of each and every piece of equipment in my bag. It just so happens that you can't exactly stop the bleeding in your buddy's shoulder caused by a 5.56 round with your bare fingers. Or stabilize a shattered tib-fib, compound femur, and pelvic fracture just by holding it. Can you treat many illnesses and injuries without any equipment? Sure! It's very easy to but only when you have proper training. And one thing that you are taught in D school is how to treat many cases without any equipment.
And that bag of crap may save your life. More so the troop carrying that bag of crap.

In what situation? Combat? Zombies or earthquake ? I have similar skills the way it was presented was vague the average person does not have the skill to use a tourniquet let alone the contents military/paramedic medic bag. I was taught to trust my skills, my hands and the art of triage more then a bag if shit hits the fan.

I'm sure if it came down to it I could dig out a bullet out of an arm and wrap it up. More common sense then anything

I'd take a Family sized trauma kit and but it in a backpack, add a few IV's with tubes and pain meds as well as a 9mm pistol with 4 clips

not to turn this into a question of manliness...as I know your every bit as capable as myself. Perhaps more so, who knows.. But infection is the least of my worries, should shithit the fan...in the area im in (geographically) I've spent the better part of lets say 25 years in the woods, drank unpurified creekwater, the whole gambit of things most folks would scoff at...so just my own personal opinion, but im not about to carry around a bag of stuff that I personally would find useless...but again, that's just me. I would not advise others to follow my lead.

And while on the subject of leading...lets say you have a bag full of medical equipment, but only know the uses for half the stuff in it...that's fine, and I'm sure it will let you rest a bit easier with that assurance...but should something out of your realm of knowledge happen...those who are with you are likely to look to you as their savoir, because you have the magic bag of goodies...how disappointed will they be when you don't know what your doing?..i say only have what you know, yourself and your group will that much more capable and confident because of that...and perhaps safer as well..
