That's the thing, it's not using any engine from Steam. Steam is merely the distribution platform. It's a game made by Bohemia Interactive studio using Real Virtuality http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Vi...game_engine%29
What you're essentially doing is using Steam to launch the executable within the Arma2 game folder. It allows you to access the Steam overlay and community whilst in game. :P
