so a few halloweens ago i was in a barnes and noble looking through their books. i often pass through the comics and manga because, well... i'm a nerd, even though i rarely buy anything. well as i was browsing i happened upon this large, hardback book, with puke green print on the spine that read: "I LUV HALLOWEEN." i said to myself, "self, that looks mighty interesting" and as a purveyor of all things interesting, i simply couldn't resist picking it up. here's a short excerpt from the forward: "I mean, do we really need to know the exact color of the rotting corpses in Finch's living room? Or the subtle shades of brown to be found in the Chonklit Monkey's poo pies? Is it truly necessary to see the fluid in the fetus jar in brilliant technicolor? Yes. Yes, it is."

if, like me at the time, you've never heard of the comic series I Luv Halloween, then you are no doubt as shocked as i was when first reading that. so a quick bit of history: ILH was released on successive octobers from 2005-2007 in three volumes, all grayscale. as a horror/comedy revolving around the pagan holiday of haloween, it sold like hotcakes, and was in fact so wildly popular among it's fans that all three volumes were released in one large hardback in "brilliant technicolor" on october 2008 (which incidentally may be when i saw it).

so i read volume one right there in the store. i got really funny looks as i stood there in the aisle laughing hysterically, and i'm just glad they couldn't see what i was laughing at, as i'm pretty sure people would frown upon someone laughing at things like: "cabbage poot. YAY!!!", children giving razor laced apples to cops, little girls putting rocks through peoples heads, bloody, gory, awesome. so after i read the first volume, i bought the book and went home to read the rest. the whole series revolves around a group of trick-or-treaters who must overcome certain obstacles, to include getting apple-jacked, fighting zombies, and overcoming an alien menace, all so they can enjoy some candy. the writers were insanely twisted. but this book is so funny, i have made it a personal tradition to read it every halloween. and as fellow zombie lovers, there's no way you could deny the zombified volume two.

over all, this book is amazing. definitely something that everyone should have on their shelves, because at some point, on some level, we all luv halloween. 10/10

What other graphic novels/ manga have you read and would you consider reviewing them for your blog. I'm just getting into them but I want to be careful with what I buy.

i used to be really into manga and what-not, but there was really very little that really really really grabbed my attention. i'll look through my collection and see if there is something worth putting out there. i'm about to get really busy with the reviews here in the next week, so we'll see.
